How do I determine the size of the hinge I need?
An easy test to determining the radius you need is to take a dime and a nickel.  A dime match a 1/4" radius hinge and a nickel match a 5/8" radius hinge.


What is the difference between commercial and residential door hinges?

  • Residential ball bearing hinges are typically for doors 1 1/4" - 1 1/2" thick.  
  • Commercial ball bearing hinges are typically for doors 1 5/8" - 1 3/4" thick.
  • Residential spring hinges are typically for doors 1 5/8" - 1 3/4" thick.  
  • Commercial spring hinges are typically for doors 2" - 2 1/4" thick.
